Longcase Clock. Circa 1820

This clock came to me after it had been knocked over. The case was damaged, also the Hood and glass were broken. The dial had also been damaged. The movement was also damaged in the accident.

The repair work carried out included, restoring the case as much as possible, it had one or two shrinkage cracks, these are very difficult to repair as it is a very big job trying to find exact copies of the veneer.

The Hood was restored as was the glass.

The two side pieces on the case were missing, so two new ones were turned to the same style, stained and polished and fitted.

The dial is being restored to its former glory.

The movement was stripped, cleaned and repaired where necessary.

This is the finished item, restored to as it should be. The case has been restored to a high standard but not overdone as this would defeat the object. This clock was made about 200 years ago and should in my opinion show some of its age. As you can see the dial has also been sympathetically restored.
