Below is a Wall clock made by S. Marti in the latter part of the 19th Century. This is the case surround before it was cleaned. The reason I cleaned it was that over the years the case had become thick with Nicotine from the owners who were prolific smokers.

The movement was also in a very poor condition, not having been serviced probably since it was made. As can be seen below.

This is how this clock looks now. As you can see it still has places where the old colour shows through, the only way this could have been totally cleaned was to have it “dipped” but this could have damaged the case by causing it to split.

As can be seen there has been quite extensive work carried out on this clock. The case was filthy but now has a wonderful rich feel to it. The movement is now working as it should and will for many years to come. This clock is for Sale on my website.
